Moroccan Zellige | Handmade Moroccan Tiles
Our traditional Moroccan Zellige tiles are handcrafted from natural clay sourced exclusively from the Fes region of Morocco. The clay is mixed with water, hand-molded, and sun-dried before being kiln-fired to create "Bejmat" biscuits. Each piece is then individually glazed and undergoes a second firing to set the glaze. Due to the uneven heat distribution in traditional wood-fired kilns (using wood or crushed olive pits), every tile has slight variations in color and texture, making each one unique with charming imperfections. Finally, the tiles are carefully cut into various shapes and sizes for custom projects.
